According the Merck Manual, it is expected that at least a third of the adult population in the world will have experienced a panic attack at least once in a year, and in some people, the attacks can be more frequent. So if you are at a risk of the attack then it is very essential and important to avoid those situations that make you feel vulnerable. Also it is advisable to the take guidance of the doctor beforehand incase if there is family history. So with this recommendation the person at least knows the solution to the problems.
There no doubts the fact that a panic attack can scare you to that extent that that you may not feel like leaving your own home and because there may not be any apparent cause behind the attack, this mysterious nature of a panic attack tends to scare the individual even more. However, if you have one, makes sure to make a serious attempt to control yourself and never allow it to overcome you completely.
Treatment
Although the disease may sound terrible there is a solution to it. The first step in any panic disorder condition should be to try and understand the triggers or causes of the panic disorder. There are usually certain things or events or instances in life that trigger the panic attacks and as soon as the person understands what these triggers are in their case, they will almost instantly feel at least a bit better.

Basically the extent of the treatment of panic disorder will depend on how serious the condition is and how long the person has been suffering from it for. Cognitive behavior therapy is presently the most commonly recommended and most effective method of treatment. It focuses on changing your thinking patterns and helping you to develop ways to better cope with your fears.
